Local Hero Category at British Journalism Awards Sponsored by IMPRESS

IMPRESS is encouraging local and regional journalists to submit their entries for the Local Hero category at this year’s British Journalism awards.  Entries close on 30 September 2016.

IMPRESS is proud to be supporting the Local Hero category at this year’s British Journalism awards.  Press Gazette launched the awards partly as a response to the hacking scandal and the Leveson inquiry.  They aim to celebrate and promote great journalism which is both interesting to the public and in the public interest. The Local Hero category supports local and regional journalists who have done the most to serve the public interest.

Jonathan Heawood, IMPRESS CEO said: “The grassroots of journalism and news reporting starts at the local and regional level and we are delighted to champion an award which recognises the valuable and important work of these journalists. These awards recognise the best journalism from around the country in whatever medium – print, online or broadcasting – so we would urge local and regional journalists to get involved and submit their entries.”
