Statement Following Today’s Board Meeting of the Press Recognition Panel

IMPRESS CEO Jonathan Heawood said:

“The Press Recognition Panel has today decided to defer its decision on our application for recognition, following some questions which have been raised by third parties about the PRP’s process.

“In the meantime, IMPRESS is open for business as the UK’s first truly independent press regulator, committed to building a new era of trust between journalists and the public.

“We will continue to build on the significant progress we have made to date and to support our rapidly-growing membership. More than two million people read the 42 publications and websites that have already joined IMPRESS, benefiting from fair and impartial regulation and knowing that the news they read can be trusted.”
